It’s the first day of a new year, good time to make the first post on a new blog. Amazed that it’s already 2011. It’s gonna be a good year! I can just feel it. Though that might just be the coffee in my belly talking. As with every year, though, no resolutions. Just the year round outlook of how my life at the time may need improvement.
As for 2010, what a year! It had it’s ups and downs, and I know I certainly can’t share some of the most delicious details! Made some friends, had to move on from other friendships, blah, blah, blah. Just a few days ago, on the 27th of December, my niece turned one year old. Her name is Estella. Craziness. Apparently, she share’s some of my personality traits. I joke that I now have an apprentice to whom I can teach my prankster ways.
Speaking of pranks, I actually managed to pull off a major one this year. Usually, I just settle for minor and harmless pranks, but not this time! Somehow, I managed to convince three friends that I was here in the U.S. on a student visa. For the sake of keeping this short, the prank basically summed up that I wasn’t able to renew my visa and I had to move back to Norway – even though I hadn’t been there since I was 10 and had forgotten how to speak the local language! Yeah, uhm, let’s just say the prank was extremely successful and thankfully my friends forgave me. 🙂 In all honesty though, I am a U.S. citizen, and while half of my ancestry is from Norway (other half from Sweden), I unfortunately haven’t had the opportunity to even visit. Hopefully before I die!
In other news… in October, I finished my Associate’s in Web Graphic Design from a technical school. Graduated with honors (exciting!). Now am able to focus on getting a Bachelor’s in Visual Communication from a local state university. Classes start up again on Monday. Feels strange, though. Haven’t attended university classes there since 2005.
Otherwise? Finally starting to feel like myself again now after a rough couple of years. Let’s just say that it had to do with the death of someone very close to me and the resulting family drama. Now I’m able to rebuild from the ashes. A big theme for this year is having “a fresh start” to life.
Cheers to a great year ahead! 🙂
